This documentary was just a wee teaser when we started thinking about including the John Muir Trail in our summer-long honeymoon in 2012. I had never heard of this 220-mile stretch of God's Country, named for John Muir. I had never heard of John Muir. I had never considered hiking that far. But the images these artists captured on their 25-day hike amazed me. This was a real, attainable experience. These views were not fiction.
Ben and I just watched the full documentary, now available for renting and purchasing on iTunes. You should watch it. The memories I've lived through the past few weeks spent recounting my trail journal were amplified by the sights I was able to relive with this documentary. The year we hiked, there was no snow. At all. So that's a major difference from their experience (i.e. we had trails to follow on the passes).
